Although most critical infrastructure sites like server rooms are equipped with UPS battery systems, many of them do not have the ability to inform the user when power fails.
This industrial-grade sensor plugs directly into the mains power, alerting the user in the event of a power outtage. Like all wired sensors, the Power Failure Sensor Probe is powered by the Sensor Gateway (via the RJ45 connector cable). Because it is designed to transmit an alert in the event of a mains power outtage it is essential that the SensorGateway connected to the Power Failure Sensor Probe is supplied with UPS power.
The sensors are PoE, Modbus and SNMP enabled. The sensor can be queried in real time by any SNMP capable network management system such as Tivoli, OpenView, Nagios, MRTG and others.
Using our free simple Perl script, you can safely shutdown your Linux servers when a power failure is detected. On Windows you can utilise the free Powershell script to perform a safe shutdown of your Windows servers in the event of a power failure reading from the sensor.
